Lag and Website Optimization
Hey everybody, I just thought I’d peer out from behind the curtain for a minute. You might have noticed that the blog is undergoing a few changes this weekend. I have gotten some complaints that Nerd Revolt is loading slowly, so I’m trying a few things like a simpler theme, compressed images, and a cloud server to try to lighten the load a bit. Hopefully you’ll see positive results from that in the next couple of days.
That being said, if you have any problems at all with any of the functionality of the site, let me know. I started Nerd Revolt because I had something to say, so I want to make sure the message gets out clearly and easily. Feel free to comment on a post or to contact me via email on the Contact page.
In other news, I have a couple of movie reviews coming down the pipeline. I wanted to just say ahead of time that because these reviews are coming the same day that the movies see wide release, there is a slight chance that the reviews may not be published on the usual Friday at 4 pm schedule. I am trying as much as possible to get in early to showings, but I just wanted to make that known, so there is not confusion.
Anyway, I hope you all have been enjoying the blog so far. I am on the lookout for anyone interested in contributing to Nerd Revolt, maybe even someone who would be interested in becoming a regular poster to fill in for other days of the week. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in sending in your work, and after a content review I’ll put it up. No resume necessary, I figure whatever writing you send me will speak for itself.
Also, spreading word of Nerd Revolt always helps – the more regular visitors this place gets, the more I can expand what I’m doing here. I am very excited for the post content coming down the pipeline, which I won’t spoil for you now, but I will say includes a total of thirteen more movie reviews for the year, and possibly fourteen. There will be more critical analysis pieces as well, for such wide-ranging topics as music on the Internet and cancelled video game projects.
Finally, if there is a topic you’d be interested in having me cover, then by all means, let me know! I am always looking for new subjects to research and write about, so email me and I will be happy to consider a future blog post on Nerd Revolt.
Thank you all for reading and sticking with me so far. I’m excited to see where we go from here.
